Serves individuals who are homeless through a continuum of care, outreach, emergency shelter, intake and assessment, transitional housing and support services, with the goal of gaining or regaining economic self-sufficiency. Services are provided through regularly weekly outreach and in the office by appointment. This program serves the entire county. Assisted Living Program provides short-term sponsorship financial placement to eligible disabled individuals. Assists disabled homeless individuals with expedited SSI applications under the SOAR program.
ELIGIBILITY:
Homeless individuals are served based on HUD\'s definition which defines homeless as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, as amended by the HEARTH Act effective January 2012:
1. On the streets or in a place not meant for human habitation.
2. In an emergency shelter, transitional housing program, or travel trailer park.
3. In housing, but being evicted within 14 days and not having resources or support networks to obtain housing.
4. Fleeing domestic violence.
5. An individual/family doubled up with others due to loss of housing.

Hello my name is kiwana and i live in fort lauderdale. Now i know the first thing you're going to say is reach out to homeless resources in my area buy i have and they heavent been beneficial due to so many families being homeless and so little funding i guess. But me and my fiance and our 3 kids have been homeless on and off for the last 3 to 4 years . we were at the salvation army but due to a family emergency we ended up staying out one night and that breeched our contract with them so we had to leave the very next day unfortunately. Ever since we have been hoping from place to place trying to keep a roof over our kids heads so that they wont get taken from us but as of the last few weeks we have been sleeping in our car and i am afraid that once my kids go back to school they are going to tell their teachers and they will get taken from us. Please help us. We are already enrolled into the HEART program at my kids school but because they just started at this school about a month ago, we haven't received any help. Im not asking for too much. I worl and so soes my fiance so we could sustain a place. We just really need help GETTING INTO ONE. I really dont wont to lose my kids, even if its for a short time. That would break me down mentally. Just please any help that you could give us and i mean REAL HELP. Not saying call this person and that person just for me to still be sleeping in my car with my fiance and kids. Please. And have a blessed night. Thank you so much for reading
